Consonances Concerto for Organ and Symphony Orchestra 2007

This piece was commissioned by Laszlo Fassang for the opening season of the new organ at the Bartók Béla National  Concert Hall in Budapest in 2007. The work has three movements, the first is a Ligeti-esque soundscape where the organ plays an integral part of the orchestra, opening with the lowest, 32' pipes of the organ along with Tuba, contrabassoon and contrabass clarinet:

In the second movement the organ gradually emerges as a solo (chamber) instrument in an orchestrated chorale prelude on "Christ lag in Todesbanden"

In the last movement the organ finally becomes a true solo instrument in sharp contrast with the orchestra:

All excerpts are from the world premier by the Miskolc Symphony Orchestra, conducted by László Kovács, Bálint Karosi, organ recorded live on June 28, 2007 at the Bartók Béla National  Concert Hall in Budapest.
